There is a new scam in the market. And it's spreading fast. The cause? DESPERATION...- HR should not have the power to judge a writer's work.- HR in Pakistan works on ego and gut feelings. No matter how good your copy is or how good your writing is, if you screw up in questions like "Tell me about yourself," even when you have sent a CV and portfolio, they cannot judge sh*t.So, I applied for the email copywriter position at a BPO with an amazing JD. They asked me to do an 'unpaid' test. I did.CEO reached out and said that he likes the work and that he wants to have a meeting with a client. The HR sent me the link, but no one showed up.HR: "There was an emergency; the client had to reschedule."I got the link for tomorrow.The same thing happened - no one showed up.CEO texted me that the client is unresponsive and that we will contact you for future projects. After a week, I checked the CEO's LinkedIn profile, and he had added my work to his portfolio.This is brutality. I called, but no one attended. I texted the CEO, but he blocked me on the first message. ---------------------------------A few months later.I applied for another job, and just like that, they asked for a FREE sample and never got back; they didn't even reply or picked the call. So freelancers. Learn from my experience. Take the risk carefully, and if you can and worth it, ask for a paid test. #writer #editor #copywriting
