A candid conversation with Kim Kardashian has shed light on her journey with Kanye West, from the highs of their relationship to the lows of their divorce. In a recent interview, Kim opened up about the challenges she faced during her marriage and the difficult decisions she had to make as a mother and an individual.
When asked about the beginning of her relationship with West, Kim described him as an extraordinary presence, always teaching and inspiring her. They married in 2014, but their union eventually crumbled, with their divorce becoming final in 2022.
Reflecting on the signs that their marriage was in trouble, Kim admitted that she may have overlooked them initially. She explained the complexities of supporting a partner through mental health struggles, but also the importance of recognizing when a relationship becomes toxic.
"It's a fine line to walk," she said. "You want to be there for your partner, but you also have to prioritize your own well-being and the well-being of your children."
Kim shared that her friends and family could sense the strain in her marriage, and she herself felt dissociated at times, trying to make sense of the situation. She knew it was time to leave when her mental health began to suffer, impacting her ability to parent effectively.
"I had to put myself and my children first," she explained. "I couldn't continue in a relationship that was detrimental to my health and my ability to be present for my kids."
Co-parenting with West post-divorce has been a challenging journey, Kim revealed. She emphasized the importance of maintaining a healthy relationship with her children's father, despite the ups and downs.
"I raise the kids full-time, and I welcome a positive dynamic with their dad," she said. "It's not always easy, but I want my children to have a strong relationship with both their parents."
Kim also addressed the rumors and misconceptions surrounding her and West's co-parenting arrangement, clarifying that she has never kept the children away from their father.
"I've always encouraged and facilitated their relationship," she stated. "I believe in healthy co-parenting, and I want my kids to have a positive relationship with both of us."
When pushed to identify the final straw in her marriage, Kim cited West's public attacks on her family and the sense of physical, emotional, and financial insecurity she felt.
"I never knew what to expect," she said. "It was a constant state of uncertainty, and that's not a healthy environment for anyone, especially not for our children."
She recalled an incident during one of West's "episodes," where he gave away their Lamborghinis to his friends, leaving her without a car. It was a stark reminder of the instability she faced.
Despite the challenges, Kim maintains a positive outlook on her relationship with West, emphasizing the beauty of their shared history and children.
"An over a decade relationship with four incredible children is a testament to our love and commitment," she concluded. "It may not have worked out in the end, but it's not a failure. It's a part of our story, and I'm proud of the family we've built together."
